Rare earth market update on August 5, 2025
The overall domestic rare earth market is generally stable, influenced by factors such as weak downstream demand, persistently high overseas rare earth prices, limited imports of rare earth products in China, and varying expectations among industry players for the future. This has led to differing sentiments among light and heavy rare earth suppliers: mainstream light rare earth suppliers exhibit a strong reluctance to sell and are optimistic about price increases, while mid-to-heavy rare earth suppliers largely maintain stable quotations. Today, the prices of praseodymium-neodymium oxide and praseodymium-neodymium metal have risen by approximately 2,000 yuan per ton and 5,000 yuan per ton, respectively, while terbium oxide and holmium oxide are priced at around 7,140 yuan per kilogram and 515,000 yuan per ton, respectively.
In terms of news, Inner Mongolia News Broadcast reports that since the beginning of the year, the Baotou Rare Earth Products Exchange has effectively connected upstream and downstream enterprises, developed personalized trading models, and continuously expanded the range of traded product categories. As of the end of July, the total number of registered enterprises reached 1,332, with a cumulative transaction volume of 108,000 tons of major rare earth products, reflecting year-on-year growth of 35.75% in transaction volume and 18.51% in transaction value. This year, the exchange has organized multiple trading sessions for high-praseodymium cerium carbonate, cumulatively selling 700 tons with a transaction value exceeding 9 million yuan. Currently, the exchange offers a total of 89 trading varieties, extending from basic raw materials to rare earth metals, auxiliary raw materials, waste materials, processing services, and even subsequent logistics services, further broadening market channels and significantly enhancing the trading platform's activity and influence.
