Molybdenum market update on February 17, 2025
At the beginning of the week, the domestic molybdenum market as a whole continued to maintain a sideways operation. Under the influence of factors such as stable downstream demand, low steel bids for ferromolybdenum, tepid international molybdenum market, and the gradual weakening of production costs to support product prices, suppliers basically maintained rational quotations. Today, the prices of molybdenum concentrate, ferromolybdenum and molybdenum oxide are about 3,560 yuan/ton, 230,000 yuan/ton and 3,660 yuan/ton, respectively. At present, the industry focuses on the market demand and the shipment enthusiasm of molybdenum mining companies.
In terms of news, data from the China Iron and Steel Association showed that in early February 2025, key steel companies produced a total of 21.33 million tons of crude steel, with an average daily output of 2.133 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 1.1%; pig iron 19.61 million tons, an average daily output of 1.961 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 3.3%; steel 19.54 million tons, an average daily output of 1.954 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 3.4%.
