Recently, according to the official website of the Baotou Industry and Information Technology Bureau, based on the unified accounting results of regional GDP by league and city, in the first three quarters of 2025, Baotou City's regional GDP reached 347.09 billion yuan, increased by 5.2% year-on-year calculated at constant prices. By industry, the added value of the primary industry was 5.05 billion yuan, increased by 5.0%; the secondary industry was 163.07 billion yuan, increased by 6.6%; and the tertiary industry was 178.97 billion yuan, increased by 4.0%. Among them, the added value of the rare earth industry increased by 19.7%, up 3 percentage points from the first half of the year, driving the growth of industrial added value above designated size by 2.6 percentage points, with a contribution rate of 26.9%.

I. Steady Growth in Industrial Economy
In the first three quarters, the added value of industries above designated size in Baotou City increased by 9.9%, higher than the national level (6.2%) and the whole region (5.9%) by 3.7 and 4 percentage points, respectively.
The three major categories advanced in parallel. In the first three quarters, the added value of the mining industry increased by 17.9%, manufacturing increased by 8.3%, and electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply increased by 8.8%. Among the 34 major industry categories, 22 maintained growth, with a growth coverage of 64.7%. Among them, the added value of non-ferrous metal mining and dressing (including rare earth) increased by 47.3%, driving the growth of industrial added value above designated size by 0.8 percentage points.
The rare earth and hydrogen storage industries drove growth significantly. The city's "two rare earth bases" construction achieved effective results. In the first three quarters, the added value of the rare earth industry increased by 19.7%, up 3 percentage points from the first half of the year, driving the growth of industrial added value above designated size by 2.6 percentage points, with a contribution rate of 26.9%. Hydrogen energy storage showed surging momentum, with the added value of the hydrogen energy industry increased by 180.6% and the energy storage industry increased by 54.6%, higher than the growth rate of industrial added value above designated size by 170.7 and 44.7 percentage points, respectively.

II. Steady Improvement in Investment Sector
In the first three quarters, fixed asset investment in Baotou City increased by 3.0%, higher than the national level (-0.5%) by 3.5 percentage points, lower than the whole region (3.7%) by 0.7 percentage points.
Investment scale in the secondary industry expanded. In the first three quarters, the investment structure ratio of the three industries was 2.1:79.2:18.7. Compared with the same period, the proportion of secondary industry investment increased by 4.3 percentage points. In terms of growth rate, primary industry investment decreased by 10.4%; secondary industry investment increased by 8.9%, higher than the citywide investment by 5.9 percentage points, driving overall investment growth by 6.7 percentage points; tertiary industry investment decreased by 14.2%.
Coordinated development of wind, solar, hydrogen, and storage. Since the beginning of this year, the city has actively promoted the implementation of new energy projects. In the first three quarters, wind power industry investment increased by 1.2 times, driving overall investment growth by 6.8 percentage points; hydrogen energy and energy storage industry investments increased by 6.5% and 1.2 times, respectively, together driving overall investment growth by 1.6 percentage points.
New projects contributed prominently. In the first three quarters, 574 new projects were added to the database, an increase of 36 over the same period, with completed investment increased by 44.9%, driving overall investment growth by 20.8 percentage points. 192 new industrial projects above 100 million yuan were started, an increase of 35 over the same period, with completed investment increased by 68.2%, driving overall investment growth by 22.2 percentage points.
