Molybdenum market update on November 14, 2025
This week, the domestic molybdenum market overall exhibited a pattern of sharp initial decline followed by a slight rebound.
At the beginning of the week, influenced by steel enterprises continuously pressing down ferromolybdenum prices and the oscillating weakness in international molybdenum prices, most suppliers showed obviously insufficient confidence in holding prices, leading to sharp downward adjustments in quotes; approaching the weekend, with increased downstream inquiry volumes and strengthened production cost support, some molybdenum product prices showed signs of halting the decline and rebounding.
According to statistics from CTIA GROUP LTD, this week molybdenum concentrate prices decreased by approximately RMB 260 per ton-unit, a decline of 6.48%; ferromolybdenum prices decreased by approximately RMB 18,000 per ton, a decline of 6.92%; molybdenum oxide prices decreased by approximately RMB 250 per ton-unit, a decline of 6.07%; sodium molybdate prices decreased by approximately RMB 8,000 per ton, a decline of 4.42%; ammonium heptamolybdate prices decreased by approximately RMB 14,000 per ton, a decline of 5.51%; molybdenum powder prices decreased by approximately RMB 17 per kilogram, a decline of 3.56%. It can be seen that the decline in molybdenum raw material prices this week was slightly larger than that of molybdenum chemical products.
According to the official website of the Baotou Industry and Information Technology Bureau, in September 2025, among the 16 key steel industry products monitored in Baotou City, high-carbon ferrochrome had the highest month-on-month increase, with an average price of RMB 8,469 per ton, increased by RMB 444 per ton month-on-month, a rise of 5.5%; I-beams had the highest month-on-month decline, with an average price of RMB 3,550 per ton, decreased by RMB 83 per ton month-on-month, a drop of 2.3%.
Hot-rolled coils had the highest year-on-year increase, with an average price of RMB 3,360 per ton, increased by RMB 256 per ton year-on-year, a rise of 8.2%; coke had the highest year-on-year decline, with an average price of RMB 1,428 per ton, decreased by RMB 213 per ton year-on-year, a drop of 13.0%.
