Rare earth market update on November 21, 2025
This week, the domestic rare earth market overall displayed a consolidating pattern. Amid a relatively balanced supply-demand relationship, the price trends of light and heavy rare earth products showed slight divergence: Pr-Nd prices fluctuated with an upward trend, while Dy-Tb prices remained stable. It is noteworthy that due to still weak consumption capacity downstream and limited supportive positive factors, the increase in Pr-Nd prices was modest. However, supported by rigid production costs, suppliers generally showed low willingness to actively reduce prices for sales.
According to CTIA GROUP LTD, this week: The price of Pr-Nd oxide increased by approximately RMB 13,000 per tonne, a gain of 2.39%. The price of Pr-Nd metal increased by approximately RMB 13,000 per tonne, a gain of 1.95%. The prices of Terbium oxide and Dysprosium oxide showed no significant fluctuations. The price of 55N NdFeB blanks increased by approximately RMB 2 per kilogram, a gain of 0.77%. The price of NdFeB scrap (Pr-Nd) increased by approximately RMB 7 per kilogram, a gain of 1.20%.
Official news from the Baotou Industry and Information Technology Bureau website indicates that in the first three quarters of 2025, the added value of Baotou's rare earth industry increased by 19.7% year-on-year, accelerating by 3 percentage points compared to the first half of the year. This growth contributed 2.6 percentage points to the increase in the added value of industrial enterprises above the designated size, with a contribution rate reaching 26.9%. Hydrogen energy and energy storage sectors demonstrated vigorous momentum: the added value of the hydrogen energy industry increased by 180.6%, and the added value of the energy storage industry increased by 54.6%. These growth rates were 170.7 and 44.7 percentage points higher, respectively, than the growth rate of the added value of industrial enterprises above the designated size.
