Molybdenum market update on November 27, 2025
The domestic molybdenum market remains generally weak overall, mainly manifested in continued price declines for some products, but affected by relatively stable downstream demand, enhanced production cost support and low willingness of suppliers to ship goods, the amplitude of price declines has narrowed. Today, molybdenum concentrate price remained stable around RMB 3,650 per tonne-degree, while ferromolybdenum and ammonium tetramolybdate prices both decreased by approximately RMB 1,000/ton.
According to information from CTIA GROUP LTD, the recent stabilization of molybdenum prices is suppressed by multiple factors: steel companies continue to press down ferromolybdenum procurement prices, the international molybdenum market performs poorly, industry players lack confidence in the future market in the short term, and raw material supply has not shown a tight pattern. However, due to current molybdenum product prices being at relatively low levels, downstream users also show high enthusiasm for inquiries and procurement. Recently, multiple steel companies including Wuhu Xinxing Casting Pipe, Heye Technology, Shougang Shares, Baosteel Shares, and Zhongnan Steel have initiated ferromolybdenum tenders, with tender prices around RMB 232,000/ton.
On the news front, data from the China Iron and Steel Association show that in mid-November 2025, key statistical steel enterprises produced a total of 19.43 million tonnes of crude steel, with an average daily output of 194.3 million tonnes, daily output increased by 0.9% month-on-month; 17.97 million tonnes of pig iron, with an average daily output of 179.7 million tonnes, daily output decreased by 0.4% month-on-month; and 19.24 million tonnes of steel products, with an average daily output of 192.4 million tonnes, daily output increased by 2.1% month-on-month. Based on this, it is estimated that this period's national daily crude steel output is 2.31 million tonnes, decreased by 1.8% month-on-month, daily pig iron output is 2.11 million tonnes, decreased by 0.2% month-on-month, and daily steel product output is 3.97 million tonnes, increased by 1.1% month-on-month.
